Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

"Ponder provides an imaginative and eminently digestible road map of leadership principles and techniques of leader development that will be of great value to experienced leaders and novices alike."

--General (Ret.) Carl E. Vuono, former chief of staff of the U.S. Army

"Ponder captures and conveys the behaviors needed to establish a culture of leadership and drive individual and organizational performance to new heights."

--Dr. Henry McKinnel Jr., chairman and CEO of Pfizer Inc.

The conventional wisdom that says that some people are born leaders and others are not is wrong. Leadership is actually a skill--and one that can be developed.

Author Randall Ponder identifies the 15 essential leadership skills and teaches you how to develop and use them. Plus, he explores the challenge that leaders face and offers simple, task-oriented solutions.

Skills include:

  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Training and development
  • Vision
  • Conflict resolution
  • Motivation
  • And more!

Book News Annotation:

Other techniques used in teamwork, diversity, coaching, strategy, vision, conflict resolution, motivation, and change are covered. There is no bibliography.

Good book that examines 15 Leadership (and management skills) that seem to be the ones we face every day. I like the straight forward approach of this book and its simplicity in conveying a subject to the reader. For example, the author, (Randall Ponder of Baton Rouge, Louisiana), does not use the complex language found in most business books. Leadership Made Easy is written for the regular person who has a need to know with minimum distractions from verbose language. Highly recommend this book.

I was able to get a copy of this book (it's out of print but pending a revised-and-updated edition). I was floored by some of the great suggestions, categorized by skills, that we all use as managers and individual contributors. It is not a difficult book to understand. By that, I mean it in two ways: 1) the prose is straight-forward and not over the top like you see in a lot of books; and 2) what is written actually makes sense. I give a big thank you to Mr. Randall Ponder of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I strongly endorse this book by Randall Ponder of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The book gives much detail on the various skills needed by leaders and managers, while not ignoring the big picture of what these individuals need to do daily. This is a must-have addition to your library.
