Synopses & Reviews

Book News Annotation:

Akers, a noted screenwriter and lifetime member of the Writers Guild of America, offers this guide to writing a screenplay that will read well and attract the attention of producers, agents and filmmakers. The author focuses on identifying the flaws that make a screenplay hard to read, such as picking the wrong main character, choosing an uninteresting title or even not giving bad guys a decent "bad guy speech." Tips on the physical act of writing are given as well, and the author provides practical information for novices on how the industry actually reads and processes unsolicited screenplays.
