Excellent way to teach children appreciation for the full cycle of one very important aspect of life: clothing! From the shearing of the lamb to spinning the lamb's wool, to the weaving of the cloth to dying the cloth, Pelle barters with each relative by helping to do a chore for each of them. This book is a classic and has a depth to it that is lacking from many modern children's books. I would highly recommend it.
