Publisher Comments:

Destined delivers all the romance and action that fans expect as it brings Aprilynne Pikes Wings series to a deeply satisfying conclusion.

Laurel used to think she was an ordinary girl from Crescent City, California. She never would have believed she was truly a faerie from a realm called Avalon.

Now Laurel must risk her life to save Avalon from destruction by Yuki—a rare and powerful Winter faerie—and troll-hunter Klea. But Laurel wont have to fight alone; David and Tamani, two boys she loves in different ways, will be by her side, along with her best friend, Chelsea.

Readers of the Need and Graceling series will want to follow Laurels story from its beginning in Wings to its heart-stopping end in Destined.

Synopsis:

Tamani looked at her gravely, and reached up to tuck her hair behind her ear.

He hesitated for an instant, then his hands found the sides of her face, pulling her to him. He didn't kiss her, just held her face close to his, their foreheads resting together, their noses almost touching.

She hated how much it felt like good-bye.

Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and Klea plans to use her to help conquer and destroy Avalon. But Klea's reach extends far beyond one wild Winter faerie. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares to face what may be Avalon's final days, in the stunning conclusion to the Wings series.

*Okay, before anything else, I just really have to say this. I love the name Aprilynne. Seriously. I think that it's absolutely gorgeous.*

It's official. My mind has been blown. No, like seriously. I can't even think straight right now.

Okay, let me take a second to calm my thoughts.

Phew. Better.

This book takes place in a span of less than 48 hours (without counting the ending), starting off a few hours after where it left off in Illusions. I found it really annoying at the time how she just cut off at the end of Illusions, but now I kind of get why she did that.

Anyways, because all the events happen in under 48 hours, there's tons of detail.

The story was very skillfully plotted. I was amazed at how smoothly one event led to the next one, and the next one, and the next one after that...

Also, there was so much action. SO MUCH. And things kept getting from bad to worse, so I kept thinking, "How are they going to get out of this mess?"

But they managed (sort of).

There were many twists and turns (well, duh, it is a war). I was hooked. I had to force myself to lay the book down, so that I could go to sleep.

And lastly, that perfect, brilliant, glorious ending. Well, actually there's two endings. One is for people who need a happy ending for every story, and one is for people who need to know the full story. I read the "The Last Words." And I was satisfied with the end. (I won't say anything more because I don't want to spoil it.)

But really, if you don't like it when books don't have a happy ending, DON'T read it. Before it, she even wrote a warning for those people, so they won't be disappointed.

The best thing about this whole series, in my opinion, is that with each book, you can see Aprilynne Pike improve as a writer. It gets better and better with each book, and Destined is definitely my favorite of them.

Wow. I am just bursting with compliments.

TO ALL WINGS FANS: You are going to love it! You may have waited a super long time for its release, but it's worth it. I had big (and I mean BIG) expectations for Destined. And you know what? It went way beyond them.

Hwa Sun :)

P.S. Team Tamani all the way! WOO HOO!
