Hone your coaching skills with these coaching legends as your mentors

Imagine gathering a roomful of legendary basketball coaches from all levels and tapping their knowledge of the game. You would learn the strength of leadership from Coach K, understand the importance of practice from the legendary John Wooden, and drill man-to-man offense with Bob Knight. In Coaching Basketball, this is all possible.

This revised third edition includes new articles by distinguished coaches such as Dean Smith, Jim Valvano, and Tubby Smith and a new section addressing sportsmanship and character development to meet one of today's greatest coaching challenges. Also new is the completeness of the essays: an article from every coach who won an NCAA Division I championship--even from the first in 1939--is now in this volume.

Editors Jerry Krause--the research chairman for the National Association of Basketball Coaches--and Ralph Pim have assembled into one volume hundreds of articles written by champion basketball coaches for coaches at all levels. The bestselling Coaching Basketball covers the fundamental skills, offensive and defensive strategy, team offense and defense, conditioning, and motivational techniques. This unmatched collection of almost-encyclopedic knowledge and the unmatched experience of these basketball giants will not only teach beginning and veteran coaches the essence of the game, but also inspire them to take their teams and themselves to the next level.

Learn from the best ever, including:

  • Phog Allen
  • Pete Newell
  • Adolph Rupp
  • Mike Krzyzewski
  • Al McGuire
  • Tubby Smith
  • Bob Knight
  • John Wooden
  • Jerry Tarkanian
  • Rick Pitino
  • Dean Smith
  • Hubie Brown
  • Nolan Richardson
  • Fred "Tex" Winter
  • Chuck Daly
  • and more!
