As Vampire fever sweeps the country like a swarm of rapid bats, what better time to revisit (or read for the first time) the most influential of all Vampire novels? Written towards the end of the 19th century the Irish-born Bram Stoker's "Dracula" is both an adventurous horror story and a hotbed of Victorian anxieties about sex, death, and foreigners. Composed entirely of letters and diaries, "Dracula" is both startling modern in its approach, but also has the texture and feel of an ancient legend. So put down "Twilight" and rediscover the source that launched so many movies and imitators. It doesn't suck!
