Suzanne Morrison was a coffee drinking, cigarette smoking, steak-eating twenty-five year-old student about to move to New York City when she decided it was time to get in touch with her spiritual side and travel to Bali for a 2 month yoga teacher training program. She envisioned herself in flowing all-white yoga clothes and meditating to enlightenment on the mud floor a thatched hut. And of course, she would move to New York, more beautiful, serene, and spiritually in-tact than ever.

But things don't go quite as she expected them to. Once in Bali, Suzanne is faced with ant infestations, teachers who believe their kitchen appliances are possessed by spirits, and fellow yogis who, every morning, drink a large, steaming mug of their own...urine.

Yoga Bitch chronicles Suzanne's hilarious adventures and misadventures of her trip as an aspiring yogi who might be just a bit too cynical and skeptical to drink the Kool-Aid. Along the way she transforms from a young girl with an irrational fear of death to a more mature woman who, while she may not have it all figured out, has found some peace and even some insight into this chaotic world.

A writer and solo performer currently living in Seattle, Suzanne Morrison has a one-woman show, Yoga Bitch, which has been called "Ambitious, ballsy, and hilarious" by Seattle Weekly and "New Age Nirvana" by Time Out London. The show has played to sold-out houses in New York City, Maui, Seattle, Memphis, London, and Oxford. This was an absolutely great read! It had me bursting out laughing throughout the whole book. Suzanne's writing is clever and hysterical. I would highly recommend it!

3 years ago, I traveled with my wife to Bali for 2.5 weeks while on our honeymoon. I can relate to so much in this book - the names of the characters and descriptions of the places, the culture shock and panic of being in a taxi while weaving in and out of traffic and thinking that I am going to die, the confusion you get when natives try to relate to you by describing American symbols (like McDonald's, Starbucks, and Arnold Schwarzenegger).

This is "Eat, Pray, Love" for real people - not only is the main character more likeable, but they are more relatable! Highly entertaining, very understandable, a somewhat accurate portrayal of traveling to Bali. Definitely recommended!
