About the Author

Jonathan Carroll was born in 1949 in New York. His father was a screenwriter; his mother an actress and lyricist. He attended Rutgers University then the University of Virginia. He became an English teacher, eventually moving to the American International School in Vienna, Austria in 1974. Carroll still lives in Vienna with his family. Bones of the Moon was my introduction to Jonathan Carroll. I instantly fell in love with his story-telling technique, the way he seemlessly blends reality with fantasy so the fantastical makes perfect sense in the real world. It's a world where no character is minor or a space filler. All the characters are fully realized and could (and have) take a lead role in other novels. Bones of the Moon made me feel everything the main character did, from her joy at discovering her dream world was real to her sorrow at some of the events taking place there and in the real world. It's a book I reread every couple of years and enjoy every time.
