Slowly and quietly, her dream world is spilling over into her New York City reality and beginning to threaten everything she loves in life. Her friends are gathered to help her-but even her newfound courage may not be enough.

Review:

"Bones of the Moon is one of the master's finest books....It's always lyrical and magical. Any Jonathan Carroll will do, but to me, this is the best." Rick Klaw, "Ten Overlooked Odd Speculative Fiction Classics," sfsite.com

Review:

"Carroll's first novel, The Land of Laughs, is something of a minor classic, but this one, his third, is, ultimately, a failure....[T]he book increasingly functions, however subtly, as anti-abortion polemic. More of a problem, in the narrative, are sentimentality in lieu of emotion, occasionally cloying preciousness, and the general superficiality of characterization." Publishers Weekly

Review:

"No one has ever written a book quite like it....Jonathan Carroll is a cult waiting to be born." Pat Conroy

Review:

"Jonathan Carroll's Bones of the Moon...started me on a love affair with the author. A brief plot synopsis cannot do the book justice....Carroll does a wonderful job painting his characters. Even those who are nothing more than a walk-on receive a full personality and quirks that stay with the reader long after the book is done....The last few pages of the book are completely unexpected in both their content and in the emotions they produce. It is a rare writer who can make you laugh and cry at the same time. Carroll accomplishes just that." Tammy Dotts, Rambles.net

Review:

"Amazing, perplexing, and unforgettable. A magical world that forces the reader to put aside his own and live only in wonder." Stanislaw Lem

Bones of the Moon was my introduction to Jonathan Carroll. I instantly fell in love with his story-telling technique, the way he seemlessly blends reality with fantasy so the fantastical makes perfect sense in the real world. It's a world where no character is minor or a space filler. All the characters are fully realized and could (and have) take a lead role in other novels. Bones of the Moon made me feel everything the main character did, from her joy at discovering her dream world was real to her sorrow at some of the events taking place there and in the real world. It's a book I reread every couple of years and enjoy every time.
