Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The Shell Seekers is a novel of connection: of one family, and of the passions and heartbreak that have held them together for three generations. The Shell Seekers is filled with real people — mothers and daughters, husband and lovers — inspired with real values. The Shell Seekers centers on Penelope Keeling — a woman you'll always remember in world you'll never forget. The Shell Seekers is a magical novel, the kind of reading experience that comes along only one in a long while.

Review:

"A lovely story, the best, really absorbing book I've read in a long time, the kind you hate to put down and especially hate to finish." The Atlanta Journal & Constitution

Review:

"A novel that excludes warmth, joy and familial interaction, peopled with men and women we will long remeber." The West Coast Review Of Books

Review:

"Beautifully done... A book about families... when the reader closes the book, it is with a sense of regret-regret that there is no more." Boston Herald

Synopsis:

At the end of a long and useful life, Penelope Keeling's prized possession is The Shell Seekers, painted by her father, and symbolizing her unconventional life, from bohemian childhood to wartime romance. When her grown children learn their grandfather's work is now worth a fortune, each has an idea as to what Penelope should do. But as she recalls the passions, tragedies, and secrets of her life, she knows there is only one answer...and it lies in her heart.

About the Author

Rosamunde Pilcher has had a long and distinguished career as a novelist and short-story writer, but it was her phenomenally successful novel The Shell Seekers that captured the hearts of all who read it and won her international recognition as one of the most-loved storytellers of our time. The Shell Seekers was followed by September and then by Coming Home and Winter Solstice, which were also immediately embraced by Mrs. Pilcher's devoted readers to become worldwide bestsellers. She lives in Perthshire, Scotland, with her husband, Graham, and their dachshund, Daisy.
