Publisher Comments:

Management, particularly in the executive ranks, has always been considered the province of Type A individuals – hard-driving, competitive, high-achieving workaholics. But all too often, these traits aren't always effective when it comes to motivating their employees. Many characteristics of Type B individuals – being more relaxed, less stressed, less competitive, more reflective, slower to anger – can be considered “people skills” and serve to better influence motivation and productivity. And successful management is the practice of accomplishing work through other people. In THE TYPE B MANAGER, Victor Lipman focuses on ways managers can engage employees using practical tactical aspects of management (such as motivating and developing employees, handling conflict, etc.) often viewed through a Type B lens. He examines specific management skills, behaviors and situations where a Type B approach can be especially advantageous, and suggests ways Type A individuals can boost effectiveness by adopting some Type B approaches (and sometimes vice versa).

The only comment I can make at this point is that the title has intrigued me enough to buy the book. It is a topic which I am really interested in and have struggled with most of my working life. So I will see after I purchase and read the book.
