Synopses & Reviews

Growing up, a book or two were always among the gifts at holidays. The one I still reread every few years is The Mists of Avalon. Both academic and popular culture have had their chance with the legend of King Arthur. However, this novel is what I still think of first. My first copy of Mists of Avalon was a Christmas present from my brother when I was thirteen It was one of the first books that I read that was not considered young adult fiction. I empathized with Morgaine and her experiences, as well as the strength she developed. It was one of the points where I wanted more from the characters I read about — no longer black or white, good or evil, but multidimensional, flawed and more relatable. This was the introduction to the science fiction genre where I still browse now. Recommended by Traci
