Publisher Comments:

The beautiful woman appears to be just another corpse in the morgue. But when medical examiner Maura Isles looks down at the body, she gets the fright of her life. The corpse opens its eyes. Now very much alive, the woman is rushed to the hospital, where she murders a security guard and seizes hostages, one of whom is the heavily pregnant homicide detective Jane Rizzoli. But who is this woman, and what does she want? Only Jane can solve the mystery - if she survives the night.

Vanish ? Tess Gerritsen. The book begins with two equally compelling stories. In the first, a narrator relates her own personal horror of being ushered across the US Boarder in hope of a better life. Betrayed, she --along with other young girls -- are sold to be raped and beaten daily. In a separate chapter, a frozen body, presumed dead, is revived by a medical examiner after the "corpse" opens her eyes. The ?Jane Doe? thanks her ?rescuer? by taking her and others hostage. The terrified party inlcudes a woman police officer about to give birth. As the tale flips between the two stories, this five star book will make it utterly impossible to do anything else but read to the conclusion. 401 pages *****
