Night Veil (Indigo Court #2)by Yasmine Galenorn
Synopses & Reviews
We’re the D’Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we’re savvy—and sexy—operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah shapeshifts into a tabby cat whenever she’s stressed. Menolly’s a vampire who’s still trying to get the hang of being undead. And me? I’m Camille—a wicked-good witch. Except my magic’s as unpredictable as the weather, as my enemies are about to find out the hard way...
At the Wayfarer Inn, a portal to Otherworld and the local hangout for humans and beasties alike, a fellow operative, Jocko, has been murdered. Every clue points to Shadow Wing, the soul-munching, badass leader of the Subterranean Realms. He’s made it clear that he aims to raze humankind to the ground, turning both Earth and Otherworld into his private playground. Our assignment: Keep Shadow Wing and his minions from creeping into Earth via the Wayfarer. The demons figure they’re in like Flynn. After all, with only my bumbling sisters and me standing in the way, how can they miss? But we’ve got a secret for them: Faulty wiring or not, nobody kicks ass like the D’Artigo girls...
"Galenorn continues the Indigo Court series (launched with Night Myst) with this muddled quest story. Wind witch Cicely Waters feverishly endures erotic bloodsuckings from 'good' (or is he?) vampire Grieve, the soul mate Cicely is trying to free from the clutches of fae queen Myst, and 'bad' (or is he?) vampire Lannan Altos. Cicely is also the fulcrum in the predictable battle between Myst and Geoffrey, another powerful 'good' vampire. Veteran paranormal romance author Galenorn can create respectably colorful fantasy settings like the exotic Court of Dreams, but howlers like Lannan calling Cicely a 'lovely young juice box' somewhat diminish their dramatic power. Even Galenorn's helpful dramatis personae and playlist of presumably inspirational recordings can't save this effort from lurid banality. (July)" Publishers Weekly Copyright PWxyz, LLC. "The first in an engrossing new series, [Witchling was] a whimsical reminder of fantasy's importance in life" (Publishers Weekly). Now comes Changeling-again featuring Camille, the good witch, Menolly, the vampire, and Delilah, a feline shapeshifter. They're the D'Artigo sisters, half-human, half-Faerie supernatural agents who are now enlisted to find the fiends responsible for slaughtering the weres of Rainier Puma Pride.

Now that they're free agents they're hoping things will be easier, but when you're half-human, half-Fae, things can go astray at the most inopportune times...especially if you're attempting to go undercover and penetrate the underworld of a vamp society on the brink of war.
