"Blueberries for Sal" has always been one of my favorite books. My mother read it to me when I was a child. I bought it for my daughter and we often read it in summer when we had just "canned" berry jam for winter. One time when I was ill, my then teen-aged daughter got her copy and read it to me as a bedtime story. What a treat it was to hear the familiar words in her voice! The sweet simplicity of the story about a mother and daughter (and Mother Bear and her cub) has been treasured by three generations of my family and has never grown old.
