Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

If Howard Morton and Freddie the Frog Killer were tryingto hold you down so that Mary Lou Hutton could kiss you, you might run as fast as Jeremy Thatcher did the day he stumbled into Mr. Elives' Magic Shop.

And if you stumbled into that strange shop, you, too, might be asked to make a choice. What would you buy? The Chinese rings? The Skull of Truth? Or the dragon's egg?

And if you did buy the dragon's egg, what would you do when you found out you were supposed to hatch it?

About the Author

Bruce Coville

Bruce Coville was born in Syracuse. He first became interested in writing when he was in the sixth grade, and decided to write children's books when he read Winnie the Pooh for the first time at the age of nineteen. (He might have read the book sooner, but he couldn't understand it until then.) Mr. Coville lives in New York City with a large, lazy cat named Spike. He has written more than three dozen books for children, including the best-selling My Teacher Is and Alien series.

i loved this book all through elementary school - i read it over and over, and finally bought it out of sentimentality when i got older. i'd definitely recommend it for kids who enjoy fantasy reading, because i can guarantee it will be a fond favorite.

This is a very exciting book! I have 6 grandkids that will so enjoy this book. I have always wanted someone in the world to write down on paper just what I have dreamed of my whole life - precious magic! I am going to buy this book for all my grandkids and have their parents read it to them. Thanks to Bruce Coville, our minds have been opened to such beautiful images and exciting new possibilities. I can hardly wait to own this book. Thanks again for an exciting read.
