Turns out that the classic illustrator can write, too. Highly praised by Guillermo del Toro and Mike Mignola, Wayne Barlowe's God's Demon is perfect for anyone interested in strange horror, twisted imagery, and blood-soaked redemption.

Publisher Comments:

The powerful Lord Sargatanas, Brigadier-general in Beelzebubs host, is restless. For millennia Sargatanas has ruled dutifully over an Infernal metropolis, but he has never forgotten what he lost in the Fall. He is sickened by what he has done and what he has become. Now, with a small event—a confrontation with a damned soul—he makes a decision that will reverberate through every being in Hell.  Sargatanas decides to attempt the impossible, to rebel, to win his way Home and bring with him anyone who chooses to follow...be they demon or soul.

He will stake everything on fighting all the abominable forces of Hell arrayed against him, when the prize is nothing less than redemption.

This is one of the best 'speculative literature' books you'll ever read! I first read it 8 years ago and it has haunted me ever since. Whatever your beliefs (or non beliefs) of the afterlife, Wayne Barlowe has created such a powerfully imaginative world of demons and angels that you begin to question if he could possibly be right-though you're terrified of that possibility! Not recommended reading for stormy nights when one's companion is out of town.
