Self-published author Hugh Howey exploded onto the scene this year with Wool, Omnibus. Set in a post-apocalypse with elements of dystopia, humans now reside in underground buildings called silos. The world outside is a forbidden topic, and any who mentions it is sent to "clean." What happened to cause mankind to fall so far? Begin the journey of discovery by following the sheriff of the silo, Holston, and witnessing the ultimate decision he is forced to make. Despite its strange name, Wool transcends the science-fiction genre, as we learn just what it means to be human.

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

What would you do if the world outside was deadly, and the air you breathed could kill?

And you lived in a place where every birth required a death, and the choices you made could save lives — or destroy them.

This is Jules's story.

This is the world of Wool.

Review:

"Exilharating, intense, addictive." S.J. Watson

Review:

In Wool, Hugh Howey delivers the key elements of great science fiction: an authentic and detailed futureworld; realistic, relatable characters to live in it; and taut, thoughtful stories that spring naturally from the plight of the people struggling to get by in the grim world of the Silos. Howey’s supple, muscular writing is the icing on the cake — and the reason why Wool has become a huge international blockbuster. Jonathan Hayes, author of A Hard Death

Review:

"If you're looking for a good post-apocalyptic read, you can't do much better than Wool." Rick Riordan

I generally do not read sci-fi but when you see a book with hundreds of 5 star ratings you get curious - and I am so glad I let my curiosity win out and read Wool. Just read it - you'll be glad you did...

I haven’t read a science fiction book since Ray Bradbury’s Martian Chronicles (about 30 years ago).
My reading is usually limited to award-winning non-fiction and fiction books. My husband’s niece suggested this book to me when I asked her all-time favorite. I will be sending her a thank you for leading me outside of my reading comfort zone.
I couldn’t Wool (Omnibus) down. My husband and I read this post-apocalyptic story at the same time and finished the 539 pages in just a few days. We had fun questioning meaning, trying to figure out what had happened and where it was happening.
I had no idea that this was a self-published book until I was finished and my husband told me. I have a writing background and found the story-telling and character development was great.
This book is visual and I hope someone will work with the Author Hugh Howey to make a movie of this riveting story.
