I use this book all the time when I'm out doing field work and I stumble across something that I can't identify. Each section has its own dichotomous key, which makes identifying plants quick and easy. It also contains range maps, a glossary, color photos of the plants, and notes about the plant. This book was suggested to me by a professor, and so far, I think it was a good one.

Good layout and lots of easy to access information. Pretty comprehensive list, good for native gardeners or to bring along on a hike.

I got this for a friend for his work as a botanist. He says it should come with a cover for use in the field, nonetheless it is excellent. He hikes Humboldt County, CA looking for rare plants and he says it comes in handy. We would recommend this book to people living in or visiting the Pac NW Coastal areas or interested in unique and distinct plant communities. It is easy to use and it has a lot of pictures. It could also be used for someone who is studying plants as a reference manual. I went to the local store looking for it but couldn't find it, so I just bought it here at Powell's; the best book store ever.
