My all-time favorite book -- it's my blueprint for living and I read it at least once every year (along with "The Holy Man's Journey" and Susan Trott's new book "The Holy Woman." Simple, funny, and profound. I love it because it encapsulates how I want to live my life and is not religious or preachy. It's the story of Joe, a holy man who lives on a mountain and the people who come to see him. Each chapter is a little jewel of a story. I fell in love with Trott's writing style years ago ("The Housewife and the Assassin," "When Your Lover Leaves" and other works of fiction) and happened upon her "The Holy Man" years after finding that first book in a sale bin. I have been a fan ever since and love to give out copies of "The Holy Man" to friends and family. It's comforting and enlightening. Great book and wonderful author. Wish I could meet her someday and tell her how much her books have enriched my life.

"The Holy Man" by Susan Trott is the best book ever. It's not preachy or religious. It's a blueprint for living life fully and well. I read it at least once every year. The simple stories are inspirational and have a gentle humor to them. I've given away at least 30 copies of this book because it's so good. The next favorite is "The Holy Man's Journey" which contains more great lessons. Can't wait to read Trott's new book -- "The Holy Woman." Now I'll have a trilogy of books to read that will inspire and delight time after time.

Perfect, fabulous, sweetly brilliant. This is one of my life-long favorite books. It’s heartwarming, hilarious, well written and a pleasure to read, and also gives you a virtuous sense of growth and time well spent, even after multiple rereads. There's always something to learn from the Holy Man's ample but gently offered wisdom.
An ideal gift book.
