Synopses & Reviews

To call someday i’m going to marry Katy Perry unorthodox would be a massive understatement. Off-center, quirky and endearingly puerile, this heteroclite collection of prose is full of twisted metaphors and turned similes, and author Calvero plods indefatigably across the pages as a most unlikely hero.

Calvero is Everyman’s champion. He struggles with Everyman’s problems, he suffers Everyman’s insecurities, he endures Everyman’s heartache. He holds nothing back. No posturing, no pretense, just honest individuality. His absence of guile and complete dismissal of social graces are a welcome deviation from convention.

The author’s playful humor is explicit; the implicit depth will take you by surprise. You come away from his work a little wiser, a little happier, a little more empathetic, but you’re not exactly sure why.

someday i’m going to marry Katy Perry is a wonderfully bizarre glimpse into the remarkably unremarkable. The work is rich, raw and vastly rewarding.

About the Author

Calvero currently lives in his parents’ basement with his two cats, Ralph and Matilda. That sentence is also the pick-up line he uses when he’s trying to pick up girls at a bar, but, surprisingly, it never gets him any action whatsoever. Calvero is one cat away from becoming a crazy cat guy and if that isn’t bad enough he works with cats at a cat hospital too. When he’s not writing or working he is more often than not eating Taco Bell, daydreaming about hunting ghosts, daydreaming about Taco Bell when he’s not eating Taco Bell, or screaming in frustration at whatever video game he is currently addicted to. He has been published in several online literary journals and thinks you should buy this book so he can finally move out of his parents’ basement.

I stumbled across "corn muffin" lord knows if that is the complete or correct title ...anyhow as I began reading it I thought wow he's on crack or he's dropping some mean drugs while jumbling and jingling these words together ..I continued to read about these crumbs on his crotch and than I realized this is incredibly raw and oh so human. His work is magnificent and thoroughly relatable, it is almost painful. I thought I'd drop a line after I accused the author of dropping acid, because his work is that edible.
