Jeannette Franklin Caines is the author of Chilly Stomach and Just Us Women, a Reading Rainbow Book, as well as several other highly acclaimed picture books about children and their families. She is also the recipient of the National Black Child Development Institute's Certificate of Merit and Appreciation.

Ms. Caines grew up in Harlem and now lives in Freeport, Long Island.

I like reading this book aloud when I'm doing a unit on inference and interpretation. It makes a great gift for a young niece.

This book just popped into my head randomly while at work and I just had to write something about it.

I remember my mom reading this book to me and thinking about how cool it would be to go on a trip with just my mom. It's a playful little book that highlights a special relationship between ladies of different generations.
