Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A passenger with a deadly secret. Six rebels on the run. An assassin in pursuit.

When the renegade crew of Serenity agrees to hide a fugitive on their ship, they find themselves in an action-packed battle between the relentless military might of a totalitarian regime who will destroy anything — or anyone — to get the girl back, and the bloodthirsty creatures who roam the uncharted areas of space. But the greatest danger of all may be on their ship...

From the mind of Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) comes a new edge-of-your-seat adventure loaded with explosive battles, gripping special effects, and fantastic new worlds!

Review:

"Serenity is made of dubious but energetic special effects, breathless velocity, much imagination, some sly verbal wit and a little political satire." Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Review:

"Joss Whedon's unassuming science-fiction adventure is superior in almost every respect to George Lucas's aggressively more ambitious screen entertainments." Manohla Dargis, The New York Times

Review:

"Serenity is a trim little picture of epic proportions." Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com

Review:

"This genre picture is still a thrillingly original science fiction creation." San Francisco Chronicle

Review:

"Serenity, despite its simple chase plot and elegant narrative ductwork, is unmistakably a TV season's worth of roller-coastering drama, most of it balanced on the capable shoulders of Fillion, a natural leading man. (Grade: B)" Entertainment Weekly

Review:

"A lot more sweaty fun than the last three overhyped, sterile, for-dorks-only Star Wars cartoons." Miami Herald

Review:

"The Serenity crew's chemistry isn't enough to take this spaceship into the stratosphere, and Whedon unleashes his most provocative ideas too late in the proceedings." Hollywood Reporter

Review:

"Serenity flies with sass and spirit, qualities that have been in palpably short supply in that Star Wars series since, well, Star Wars." Newsday

Joss Whedon is a genius. This film stands on its own, but also is somewhat of a continuation of the television series Firefly. If you're going to watch Serenity, be sure to watch Firefly. You won't be sorry.
