Synopsis:

When Jane Ingleby interferes with a duel in London's Hyde Park involving the scandalous Duke of Tresham, he gets shot. He hires her as his nurse, vowing that she will share in his misery as he recovers. As she scolds his bad manners and learns his secrets, Tresham offers to put Jane up in his townhouse. Love is the last thing on his mind.

About the Author

Bestselling, multi-award-winning author Mary Balogh grew up in Wales, land of sea and mountains, song and legend. She brought music and a vivid imagination with her when she came to Canada to teach. Here she began a second career as a writer of books that always end happily and always celebrate the power of love.

There are over three million copies of her Regency romances and historical romances in print. She is also the author of a new Regency-era romantic novel on sale in August 2001, No Man's Mistress, which features as its hero Ferdinand Dudley, the younger brother of the Duke of Tresham.

Jane Ingelby is no one's fool. A strong woman living in an age when women were dis-empowered, she nonetheless manages to defend her independence and keep her integrity. "No Man's Mistress" has some of my favorite scenes in historical romance, plus a sympathetic hero and a tight plot. This one is a keeper, to read again and again.
