Synopses & Reviews

Please note that used books may not include additional media (study guides, CDs, DVDs, solutions manuals, etc.) as described in the publisher comments.

Publisher Comments:

This workbook provides a wide range of exercises, role playing activities and case scenarios to help students practice specific macro skills. The text's versatility allows it to be the primary text in a practice course or as a supplement to accompany other macro theory texts, especially GENERALIST PRACTICE WITH ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITIES, 2nd by the same authors! The authors integrate macro development for field internships, as well as enhance macro skill development for social workers in the field. Specific macro practice skills are presented in a straightforward manner, and both applications to actual macro practice situations and the importance of client system strengths are emphasized throughout.

Book News Annotation:

Offers exercises, role plays, activities, and case scenarios that allow students to practice social work skills used with organizations, communities, and political entities. This second edition covers skills such as fund raising and working with the media, and updates material on organizational theories. Can be used as a primary text in a course focusing on practice with organizations and communities, as a workbook accompanying other texts, as a complement to the authors' text Generalist Practice with Organizations and Communities, second edition, and as a tool for integrating macro skill development for field internships. Lacks a subject index. Kirst-Ashman is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Hull is affiliated with the University of Utah.
