This card game is a modern variant on a musical game published beginning in the late nineteenth century by the Theodore Presser Company, music publishers in Philadelphia, which was called "The Great Composers". For 100 years, Presser published The ETUDE Magazine.

Similar to "Authors" what I especially find interesting are the musical score tie-ins with Romantic authors -- such as Goethe (Erlkonig), Schiller (Ode an die Freude), Pushkin (Pikovaya Dama/Queen of Spades), Ibsen (In the Hall of the Mountain King from "Peer Gynt") and Hans Christian Andersen (Jeg Elsker Dig!)-- since they inspired many of the nineteenth-century European "art-songs".

These are excellent quality playing cards -- unlike most children's games these days. I would recommend the game for anywhere from age 8 on up to high school.
