    About the Author

    Dr. Spencer Johnson is chairman of Candle Communications Corporation, alecturer, and a communications consultant who helps people experienceless stress and more success in their lives through bettercommunication.

    In 1977, long before he co-authored the best-selling book The One MinuteManager (with Kenneth Blanchard, Ph.D.), Dr. Johnson was using his nowfamous three-step method in his own home to teach his children how tolike themselves and want to behave themselves.

    He spent the next few years listening to other parents who were learninghow to use his method with the same success. Many of their practicalsuggestions are in this book.

    Dr. Johnson is also the widely acclaimed author of more than a dozenbooks dealing with medicine and psychology, including the popularValueTale series of children's books. More than four million copies of his books are now in use.

    Dr. Johnson's education includes a degree in psychology from theUniversity of Southern California, an M.D. degree from the Royal Collegeof Surgeons in Ireland, and medical clerkships at Harvard MedicalSchool, Los Angeles Children's Hospital, and the Mayo Clinic.

    He has also served as consultant for the Center for the Study of thePerson, Human Dimensions in Medicine Program, and for the Office ofContinuing Education at the School of Medicine, University of Californiain La Jolla.

    Dr. Johnson is currently writing two new books.
