Terribly unhappy in his family's crowded New York City apartment, Sam Gribley runs away to the solitude-and danger-of the mountains, where he finds a side of himself he never knew.

This is a great book for boys. Though I loved it when I was a girl too. Here is a boy that runs away to the woods and is able to make a home for himself. A smart kid that doesn't need to be rescued at the end! Great fun!
