Mike Sullivan’s timetested approach focuses students on the fundamental skills they need for the course: preparing for class, practicing with homework, and reviewing the concepts. In the Ninth Edition, Precalculus has evolved to meet today’s course needs, building on these hallmarks by integrating projects and other interactive learning tools for use in the classroom or online.
New Internetbased Chapter Projects apply skills to realworld problems and are accompanied by assignable MathXL exercises to make it easier to incorporate these projects into the course. In addition, a variety of new exercise types, Showcase Examples, and video tutorials for MathXL exercises give instructors even more flexibility, while helping students build their conceptual understanding.
MyMathLab provides a wide range of homework, tutorial, and assessment tools that make it easy to manage your course online. About the AuthorMichael Sullivan, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at Chicago State University, received a Ph.D. in mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Mike taught at Chicago State for 35 years before recently retiring. He is a native of Chicago’s South Side and divides his time between a home in Oak Lawn IL and a condo in Naples FL.
Mike is a member of the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America. He is a past president of the Text and Academic Authors Association and is currently Treasurer of its Foundation. He is a member of the TAA Council of Fellows and was awarded the TAA Mike Keedy award in 1997 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
