Publisher Comments:

Here, for the first time, and drawing on her own unpublished memoirs is the endlessly fascinating full account of Laura's life--from, her earliest years through her enduring marriage to Almanzo Wilder, the 'farmer boy' of her stories.

I am replying to the comment previously posted. Mary, in real life, did have a stroke. The "Little House" books, though follow Laura's life , are NOT autobiographical. The scarlet fever Mary "had" in the books was fictional.

If I remember correctly,Mr. Zochert wrote that Pa Ingalls cut off Marys hair because she had a stroke and she would be cooler, and she lost her sight because of the stroke. In reading Lauras books,Laura didn't mention a stroke, and she wrote that Mary lost her sight because of scarlet fever. I'm more inclined to believe Laura since she was there and should know what sicknesses were suffered by anyone in the family.
