About the Author

A Caldecott Honor artist with more than ninety books to her credit, Tasha Tudor has lived her entire life in New England, and with her artwork she celebrates the landscapes, animals, and people of her home.

About this book she says: "1 is One recalls for me the simple joys of teaching my children and grandchildren not only to count but also to savor the act of counting. How infinitely pleasing to contemplate seventeen gourds hanging up to dry and recall the pleasure of planting those seeds and watching them grow to just the right size."

Tasha Tudor's many books include A Time to Keep, The Springs of Joy, All for Love, and The Dolls' Christmas, all of which she collected or wrote. She also has illustrated versions of Robert Louis Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses and Clement Clarke Moore's The Night Before Christmas.
