Publisher Comments:

One of readers favorites, Frederica is full of surprises

When Frederica brings her younger siblings to London determined to secure a brilliant marriage for her beautiful sister, she seeks out their distant cousin the Marquis of Alverstoke. Lovely, competent, and refreshingly straightforward, Frederica makes such a strong impression that to his own amazement, the Marquis agrees to help launch them all into society.

Lord Alverstoke cant resist wanting to help her

Normally wary of his family, which includes two overbearing sisters and innumerable favor-seekers, Lord Alverstoke does his best to keep his distance. But with his enterprising - and altogether entertaining - country cousins getting into one scrape after another right on his doorstep, before he knows it the Marquis finds himself dangerously embroiled...

A writer of great wit and style... I've read her books to ragged shreds. - Kate Fenton, Daily Telegraph

Stylish, witty, and bang up to the mark - Punch

One of Georgette Heyer's more adorable heroines. - Saturday Review

Classic Heyer-the author at her best

Not only do the characters seize your heart from the first moment, they are three dimensional and so alive. It is just wonderful

What a great book. One of my favourites, as the most beautiful is not the heroine.

Witty, enchanting, and impossible to put down. This is one of Heyer's best works and one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read.

A wonderfully written witty tale of the downfall of a cynic. I was charmed.

Frederica is one of readers' favorite Heyers, with a young woman burdened with the responsibilities of being the head of her family, and a hero whose jaded boredom is transformed by an accident with a hot air balloon...

This book got me hooked on regency romance books. Georgette Heyer is the queen of regency and her humorous take on Frederica and her siblings is the best of the best. I love how Frederica is oblivious of Alverstoke's partiality to her and her family and how he gets pulled into the antics of her brothers, almost against his will.
Frederica is lots of fun to read, especially when there are no interuptions as you will not want to put this story down.

Another witty, chaste and gloriously ridiculous Georgette Heyer Regency romance, this one featuring a jaded London lord; a sensible and outspoken young gentlewoman from the country bent on providing for her beautiful sister a marriage-making London season; three scapegrace younger brothers (one with an affection for the marvels of steam engines); and a large ruffian of a dog with bad manners and a big heart who must needs assume a false identity as a Baluchistan hound. Finally, it is to be hoped that you, too, "shouldn't dream of watching a balloon ascension from anything so stuffy as a barouche."

p.s. There is also a lot of hilarious Regency slang. "Bustle about, Noddy, or we shan't be in time to snabble all the lobster patties!"
