Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Retired private detective and current seventh grader Steve Brixton has a new career: taking out the garbage on Wednesdays for five bucks a week. But itand#8217;s hard to leave the old game behind, and on a train trip down the California coast, Steve finds himself pulled back into sleuthing. Soon heand#8217;s in over his head in four feet and eleven inches of mystery involving a fleet of priceless automobiles, a deadly assassin (or maybe just a faulty lock on a sauna door), and a secret train car filled with intrigue. Plus thereand#8217;s a girl involved, which complicates everything. I mean sheand#8217;s just Steveand#8217;s friend. And really, they barely even know each other. Itand#8217;s not like theyand#8217;re boyfriend or girlfriend or anything, okay?

Synopsis:

Retired private detective and current seventh grader Steve Brixton has a new job: he takes out the trash for five bucks a week.

But it's hard to leave the old game behind.

On a train trip down the California coast, Steve and his best chum, Dana, are pulled into a mystery involving a fleet of stolen automobiles, a vanishing girl, and a phantom train car.

For a great detective, the best part of retiring is coming out of retirement.

Synopsis:

The Bailey Brothers Adventures continues in this modern, comic mystery series starring Steve Bailey. Steve is in the seventh grade and is obsessed with the Brixton Brothers, a pair of sibling sleuths who solve crimes in a mystery book series. Steve has read all 58 Brixton Brother mysteries, sent away cereal box tops for his Brixton Brothers Detective's License, and he studies the Brixton Brothers Detective Handbook. He inadvertantly becomes America's top sleuth by practicing the tactics (not always so successfully) that he has learned from his fictional heroes.
