Even though I really didn't like the first Earthsea book, I'm so glad I decided to read this second one. I found this setting of mysterious priestesses belonging to an ancient order to be much more intriguing than the barrage of countless islands in the first book. I also felt the "eaten one" to be a much more interesting character, full of depth, as compared to the mostly one-dimensional angry Ged of book one. The wait to see how this new storyline connected with the first also kept me interested. Worth checking out!
