Pop-up books have great appeal. Currently there is an explosion of movable books available in the market place. Everyone (preschoolers to adults) loves to admire and touch the beautiful work of Robert Sabuda and others. Based on their own experience and their many presentations to teachers and librarians, the authors have inncluded template lesson plans with curriculum and standards links for using the best pop-up books in print in the instructional program of the school,. Profiles of the most notable author/illustrators, a history of the format, definitions (what is a flap book, a paper engineer etc), and a section on collection problems with the format (how to acquire, where to buy, how to store) as well as a section on how to create movable books and an annotated listing of the authors 50 favorite pop-ups are all helpful additions.
