Le Chat Musicienby Joseph Beaulieu
Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:This vibrant, engaging assortment offers children an entertaining introduction to the French language. From stories of friendship, family, discovery, and self-esteem to silly, snappy songs of one-of-a-kind barnyard animals, lullabies, and segments of classical music, children tune in to a variety of musical styles and multicultural experiences. The accompanying CDs provide children an opportunity to hear the pronunciation of the words and sing along as they learn the language.
These 12 lively animal-themed songs are separated into morning, afternoon, and evening. Each appears with lyrics and colorful illustrations in the book and is performed by young dynamic singers representing the contemporary music scene in Canada and France on the accompanying CD. Children can wake up to the sound of a singing lark in “L'alouette du matin” (The Morning Lark), shake it up in the afternoon with a raucous team of circus animals in “Le cirque” (The Circus), and wind down at the end of the day listening to a choir of mellow frogs in “Le concert des grenouilles” (The Frog Concert). About the AuthorJoseph Beaulieu was a legendary folklorist and songwriter. More than 200 of his compositions and arrangements were published in the 1940s in Les Cahiers de La Bonne Chanson, and many of his folk songs were selected for inclusion in the school songbook Mon école chante.
