The Annual World Bank Conference on Development Economics brings together researchers from inside and outside the World Bank to present peer-reviewed empirical economic research on development processes and development policies. This volume presents the proceedings of the January 2006 conference, which began with keynote addresses on the dynamics of institutions, development, and elites; growth in Eurasia; the transition of economics in Israel and Russia; and interaction of political and economic transition.
