Having never really worked with models and posing, the first time and many times after that can certainly be very akward and uncomfortable. You see pictures of models everyday but trying to recreate that in your head from memory isn't so easy. After browsing through part of this book, I can say it is certainly a great resources that explains and shows modeling in a very easy to learn way. Great work Martin.

This is a wonderful book for helping the reader (photographer/subject) on all aspects of posing. Not only are Martin’s techniques easy to follow, but provide a great foundation. His visual examples also provide a great illustration for the basic fundamentals of posing which will achieve a more flattering look. His book is an essential guide in any photographer’s toolkit.

I have never liked having my picture taken so I show up in very few of our family outing pictures. As I read through the book I found myself being caught up in techniques for striking a more interesting pose. I was intrigued by the notion that I could change the pictures I took and the ones that were taken of me by incorporating a few simple techniques. After reading Risking a Better Pose I am better prepared to present myself in pictures.

My biggest gain from the book was much more than the techniques. I also learned a great deal about just accepting myself for who I am. I am more than what you can see on the outside. Reading some of the stories added such a personal touch and were truly eye opening.

This guide is much more than a step by step book of techniques! Martin does a great job helping any “model” reach their full picture potential…inside and out! I highly recommend this guide to anyone interested in taking pictures or posing for a picture!
