andlt;Bandgt;Welcome to the realm of very scary faeries!andlt;/Bandgt; andlt;BRandgt; Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms — a struggle that could very well mean her death.

Synopsis:

After returning home from a tour with her mother's rock band, sixteen-year-old Kaye, who has been visited by faeries since childhood, discovers that she herself is a magical faerie creature with a special destiny.

About the Author

Holly Black spent her early years in a decaying Victorian mansion where her mother fed her a steady diet of ghost stories and faerie tales. An avid collector of rare folklore volumes, spooky dolls, and crazy hats, she lives in West Long Branch, New Jersey, with her husband, Theo. This is her first book. Not all fairies are cute little creatures that plant flowers. In this tale, the fairies hold a darker personality, that rivals the ones of humans. Kaye soon sees that somethings hide behind the mask. Kaye meets the relucant hero/villian Robien when he is injured. From that meeting, her world spirals out of control. This books makes you think twice about the fairies you used to know. Kaye faces problems no human could understand, except her best friend.
The fairies in this story don't plant flowers. They get what they want, no matter the price. Kaye soon has to make a choice: ignore the faires and let what happens happen. Or, face what she doesn't know and hope to win. ONly way to know is to read this fairy tale thats not meant for young kids.
