One of my favorite children's books ever. Each fable is simple, yet powerfully true. These aren't boring didactic tales. Humor and beautiful illustrations make this a classic for kids and adults. I know I will keep this one with me forever.

This is a fabulous collection of original fables with great messages/morals. My middle school students love it, and every adult I've recommended it to has found a favorite story inside. I'm a fan of "The Hippopotamus Dances."

'Short, original fables with fresh, unexpected morals poke subtle fun at human foibles through the antics of animals. . . . The droll illustrations, with tones blended to luminescent shading, are complete and humorous themselves.' — Association of Library Service to Children, ALA.
