Publisher Comments:

My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.

All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don't even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost—and the ghost saw me.

Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won't leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a "special home" for troubled teens. Yet the home isn't what it seems. Don't tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? It's up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House . . . before its skeletons come back to haunt me.

Synopsis:

Internationally bestselling author Armstrong now brings the thrilling paranormal world from her Women of the Otherworld adult series to a teen audience, in this first book in a sensational trilogy.

About the Author

Kelley Armstrong is the bestselling author of the Other-world series; the first book in the Darkness Rising trilogy, The Gathering; and the New York Times bestselling Darkest Powers trilogy, which includes The Summoning, The Awakening, And The Reckoning.

Kelley's earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves while safely locked away in her basement writing-dungeon.

Celebrated adult fantasy author Kelly Armstrong flexes her literary muscle by delving into the Young Adult genre.

The Summoning is the inauguration of The Darkest Powers trilogy. Set in the same universe as Armstrong's popular Otherworld series.

Recounted in first person (not my favorite viewpoint) by the enchanting Chloe, The Summoning is brimming w/ spine-tingling suspense. The Summoning illustrates energetic teens uncovering & exploring their diverse supernatural abilities.

What is unique about this enthralling series are the teenagers scattered throughout the pages. Armstrong's spirited young adults are coping w/ their newly unearthed powers w/o direction &/or nourishment from individuals they can depend on.

Armstrong does a spectacular job demonstrating all the humiliation, insecurity, restlessness, suffering, terror & turbulence the electrifying cast of players endure.

Chloe is a mesmerizing character & literally jumps off the page. I was glued to the The Summoning from the riveting start to the explosive cliffhanger.

Armstrong does an unparalleled undertaking showcasing Chloe's journey to self discovery. The way Armstrong not only reveals Chloe's "gift" but phenomenally displays her tolerance of it is spot on!

The first book in a series usually sets up the premise but the The Summoning delivers the goods in impressive storytelling. The players are adorable, comical, intriguing & whimsical.

Each cast member is fascinating on their own. Tori, Simon, Rae, Derek & Liz radiate three dimensionally & are not just there for filler. Kudos to Armstrong for that crafted feat!

I find Derek utterly intriguing & would love to see much more of him in the future ~ I am rooting for a lil' romance between him & Chloe ; ).

This was my first Armstrong & now I really want to read her adult fantasy series!!!

What was superbly scribbled was Lyle House, Armstrong really heightened the creep factor in such a striking way ~ it was a character all its own.

Looking for adrenaline induced chills? Look no further than The Summoning!

Quick! Grab a copy of The Summoning & lock up.

I enjoyed reading this ! I realize teens think of
puberty as turning into some kind of strange creature,
just hopefully not like these teenagers ! This is going
to be a series, hopefully they see it as a good start
for a movie. Although the bio's of the charactors
could have included more about family and what home
life was like, right before winding up in the so-called
group home, would have helped. I was left wandering
what was going on with the dead people in the crawl
space. The ending was as if someone had cut the book
in half, just left you hanging until the next book.
Overall I did like it and will wait for the rest of the story.
