Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The highly anticipated third book in Kiera Cass's #1 New York Times bestselling Selection series, The One will captivate readers who love dystopian YA fiction and fairy tales. The One is perfect for the fans who have followed America's whirlwind romance since it began — and a swoon-worthy read for teens who have devoured Veronica Roth's Divergent, Ally Condie's Matched, or Lauren Oliver's Delirium.

The Selection changed America Singer's life in ways she never could have imagined. Since she entered the competition to become the next princess of Illéa, America has struggled with her feelings for her first love, Aspen — and her growing attraction to Prince Maxon. Now she's made her choice... and she's prepared to fight for the future she wants.

Find out who America will choose in The One, the enchanting, beautifully romantic third book in the Selection series!

Review:

"Fans of Cass's Selection trilogy won't be disappointed with this satisfying final installment. Lower caste and originally a long shot in the competition, America Singer returns as one of four Elite girls vying for Prince Maxon's heart and the title of princess of Illea. America is as willful and defiant as ever, making her both a target of King Clarkson's wrath and the darling of the people of Illea. She and Maxon continue to butt heads even as the chemistry between them remains palpable. The challenges facing the couple are unrelenting: brutal attacks by rebels, new political allies with a clear preference in who is chosen as princess, and ever-tangled relationships with America's fellow Selected girls. America has the right mix of sass and heart, and her over-the-top royal treatment is enough to make any reader who has ever played dress-up envious. Cass wisely keeps the Selection decision uncertain until the very end, keeping readers on the edge of their seats to find out who Maxon will finally choose as his bride. Ages 13 – up. Agent: Elana Roth, Red Tree Literary." Publishers Weekly Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Review:

"Who will become the future queen of Illea and Prince Maxon's wife?...Fans of this series will not be disappointed by the ending." School Library Journal

Alright, I want to start this off by saying it's been several months since I read this one. I loved it! I was anticipating this one since the end of the first book. I guessed who the "winner" was going to be. I was right, however the way she became the winner was not how I was expecting.

There were several things in this book that I "saw coming". There were several things I had no idea would happen. The middle of the book and close to the end were far from what I was expecting. The surprise was welcome though.

I loved the way America's character developed. I know a lot of readers had issues with her in the first two books. I always liked her, however, I do see how others may not have liked her. That being said, I believe that she really grew into her own in this last installment.

Maxon, Maxon, Maxon, Maxon. What I can I say about the Prince? He was amazing in this one! He faced a lot of difficult issues in this book and he came through better then I can say I would have if I had to face even a sliver of what he faced.

If you liked the first two books, I would highly recommend this one. I am looking forward to reading more in this world when The Heir is released this spring!

This book is a roller coaster finale of emotions and dangers that fly towards young America as the Selection is almost over and as Maxon chooses his bride. His new queen. The stakes are high as the competition comes to an end and rebel attacks become more and more frequent. The endless twists and turns of this book keep your heart racing and aching as the romance between Maxon and America ensues. Fantastic read!

I have been waiting for a while wondering how this trilogy could possibly end, not even knowing how I wanted it to end. Now that I have read it, I approve in the way that it ends and feel very satisfied with it. In this third and final book of The Selection trilogy, America must continue to figure out her feelings towards Maxon and Aspen while having to deal with the pressure from the King and ever increasing rebel attacks. I fully enjoyed reading this book and it ended way to fast. I expected this book to be very frustrating and I anticipated a lot of yelling. It was frustrating in the way that just makes you want to read on though. This book had a lot more action then any of the other books in the trilogy and some very stressful moments of not knowing if they are alive or not. Reading this book I felt satisfied with all of the decisions that America made and fully supported her in them. This series seems like it is the book version of the bachelorette, but it is still so much more. I recommend this book to anyone who liked Starters by Lissa Price.
