Just gorgeous! Shields spins a tale that brings to mind books like Everything Is Illuminated, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and Middlesex. Generations are represented with simultaneous gravity and an air of mischievous "que sera sera." The reader moves through Daisy Stone's life with her in an intimate and detailed way, experiencing the years in a sensual, palpable manner. The Sone Diaries is a gift and a pleasure to read.

I know this book has been around a while but I've only just read it and I loved it! What an intriguing tale spun over a lifetime. I especially appreciate the words, thoughts, observations offered on her deathbed.
