Bethany Moreton: IMG Culture War on Aisle 5? Wal-Mart, Evangelicals, and "Extreme Capitalism"

"In the 'culture wars' narrative of the Republican ascendancy, this slippage represents the greatest con in recent history: while you rush to defend marriage or protect the unborn, please pay no attention to the financier behind the curtain." Continue »

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Is there a monster at the end of this book? Lovable Grover believes so and he will try anything to stop readers from turning the pages to find him. This bestselling Sesame Street book of all time is an exciting and original tale that children will read again and again. Full color.

Review:

"This is such a fun book that they won't even realize that they are reading. Perfect for an enthusiastic adult to share with a new reader, the text is full of energy and words seem to jump out from the pages." Children's Literature

Synopsis:

Many, many adults name this book as their favorite Little Golden Book. Generations of kids have interacted with lovable, furry old Grover as he begs the reader not to turn the page...for a monster is at the end of the book

"Oh, I am so embarrassed," he says on the last page, for of course the monster is Grover himself

Of all the Little Golden books, this is my favorite, and a must read for every parent and child. I read this to my son when he was little and now to his daughter. The anticipation grows page after page. The kids love turning the pages. The author does a masterful job of building suspense, and I would not be surprised to find out that the ghost writer for this book might be a famous author of some renown. The book is beautifully illustrated with full color paintings of Grover and his Sesame Steet surroundings. I love how creative and interactive this book is, with Grover trying to stop you from getting to the end of the book by building brick walls, and using rope to tie the pages together. This is a must have for every child (and adult) library.
