Every Saturday afternoon, she sits at the Dairy Queen, eating Dilly Bars and plotting her getaway to the big city of Atlanta. And when, with the help of a family friend, the dream becomes a reality, Catherine Grace immediately packs her bags, leaving her family and the boy she loves to claim the life she's always imagined. But before things have even begun to get off the ground in Atlanta, tragedy brings her back home. This is one of those moments that make you stop and say, wow. Maybe I'm the only one to feel that way....

We've all done it, type your name and town into google to see what pops up. Well I type in Susan Dawson, Ringgold and this site pops up!

Wow, theres a book about my town, Ringgold. A Susan Dawson has commented on it, and its not me! lol

Yes, I live in Ringgold and I have to assume the Dairy Queen is actually the, "Chow Time" They're well known for their burgers, fries and ice cream. There was a day where they served you at your car, and if I'm not mistaken in their roller skates. Its walking distance to the high school and was once "the" place to be.

It has new owners now, but still has the "Chow Sauce" and I hope it will soon be "the" place to be again. No, I don't own Chow Time, I closed my Ringgold Restaurant. And hint-hint...we didn't serve fries, lol

I will be buying this book!

This is a great novel which I read several months ago. It is probably more of a woman's book, but the book is an upper--something to read when one is down in the dumps. It several steps above chick-lit.

As a teen in the 1950s. I savored many a dilly bar, especially the chocolate/chocolate variety, so I could identify with the protagonist....Highly re- commended.

As soon as I finished this book, I wanted to run to my local Dairy Queen for a Dilly Bar! Susan Greg Gilmore has a winner on her hands with this portrait of a small town girl following her big city dreams. Many humorous moments are intertwined with sadness and revelations. "Salvation" had me longing for the East Texas town where I spent a lot of my childhood!
