Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A murder mystery, family saga, love story, and a tale of financial intrigue wrapped into one satisfyingly complex and entertainingly atmospheric novel.

Harriet Vanger, scion of one of Sweden's wealthiest families, disappeared over forty years ago. All these years later, her aged uncle continues to seek the truth. He hires Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate. He is aided by the pieced and tattooed punk prodigy Lisbeth Salander. Together they tap into a vein of unfathomable iniquity and astonishing corruption.

This was the best trilogy I have ever read. I went crazy when the third book was not yet in print. I was one of the first ones to purchase it when it finally did come out. Excellent writing, wonderful reading.

It's a mystery, so it gets me from the get go. I become invested in the characters and what they will do next. The character of Lisbeth Sanders is edgy and unpredictable. She was interesting if not always a sympathetic character. As soon as I finished this first book, I wanted to pick up the second in the trilogy. That is always a good sign.
