Publisher Comments:

Personal vendettas, hidden treasure, and a monkey named Carl will send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most explosive adventure yet.

The Crime:   Armed robbery to the tune of nine million dollars

Dom Rizzi robbed a bank, stashed the money, and did the time. His family couldn’t be more proud. He always was the smart one.

The Cousin:   Joe Morelli

Joe Morelli, Dom Rizzi, and Dom’s sister, Loretta, are cousins. Morelli is a cop, Rizzi robs banks, and Loretta is a single mother waiting tables at the firehouse. The all-American family.

The Complications:   Murder, kidnapping, destruction of personal property, and acid reflux

Less than a week after Dom’s release from prison, Joe Morelli has shadowy figures breaking into his house and dying in his basement. He’s getting threatening messages, Loretta is kidnapped, and Dom is missing.

The Catastrophe:   Moonman

Morelli hires Walter “Mooner” Dunphy, stoner and “inventor” turned crime fighter, to protect his house. Morelli can’t afford a lot on a cop’s salary, and Mooner will work for potatoes.

The Cupcake:   Stephanie Plum

Stephanie and Morelli have a long-standing relationship that involves sex, affection, and driving each other nuts. She’s a bond enforcement agent with more luck than talent, and she’s involved in this bank-robbery-gone-bad disaster from day one.

The Crisis:   A favor for Ranger

Security expert Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, has a job for Stephanie that will involve night work. Morelli has his own ideas regarding Stephanie’s evening activities.

The Conclusion:   Only the fearless should read Fourteen.

Thrills, chills, and incontinence may result.

Review:

"New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum finds herself saddled with the teenage son of Loretta Rizzi, her latest skip, at the start of one of the less cohesive entries in Evanovich's bestselling series (Lean Mean Thirteen, etc.). When Mario 'Zook' Rizzi and his obsession with the online role-playing game 'Minionfire' become too much for Stephanie to handle, the pair camp out at Trenton cop Joe Morelli's house. Stephanie also takes a job with the mysterious Ranger, helping him 'babysit' Brenda, a fading music star in town for a concert. After Loretta is kidnapped, Stephanie and Morelli discover that to ensure Loretta's safety, they'll have to find the $9 million that disappeared after a bank robbery committed by Loretta's recently paroled brother, Dom. A mild-mannered stalker and the upcoming nuptials of Stephanie's colleague Lula to Ranger's right-hand man, Tank, add to the crazy fun. Despite a number of unresolved subplots, this Plum adventure won't disappoint those looking for the perfect summer beach read. (June)" Publishers Weekly (Copyright Reed Business Information, Inc.)

Boring, boring, boring. I'm sorry, but Joe Morelli cannot carry a book, not even with Mooner in the background. I know Evanovich's books are suppose to be pot-boilers, but are they also suppose to be an insult to women every where? Steph sits around on a stool and spins, while her man bosses her around, her mother tipples herself into oblivion and Lula is a lying conniving bridezilla. Not to mention Brenda. YEESH, and promoting unsafe sex because Steph was different from all the other "sluts" Joe slept with? If Joe is the perfect man, then paint me single.

I raced out to buy this once I had my kids settled and started reading in the car heading home. What a big disappointment this book was. I'm glad someone enjoyed it but I should have paid attention to the reviews.

Fearless Fourteen is finally here and I love it to pieces!! I dont know what books all those 1 star reviewers were reading, but I give this one 5 bright stars. Its got everything Plum fans wait for every year. Hysterical laughter, Stephanie better than ever, Joe sexy as hell, Bob in disguise, Mooner on a mission, Costanza and Big Dog to Grandma's rescue. This years addition to our favorite summer series is a must read.
