Massie, Claire, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen are back at OCD, and better than ever! They win their title back immediately, but soon have competition. Skye, the most popular girl in the 8th grade, has a key that leads to a secret room. The 'legend' is that the true alpha gets the key, but Skye changes the tradition and gives a couple of girls a riddle. The riddle is the clue to finding the key that leads to the secret room. Massie, Claire, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen all know that Massie is the true alpha, so they fight to find the key. Massie knows she will just do anything to get that key and show everyone at OCD that she IS the TRUE ALPHA!

It’s Not Easy Being Mean by Lisi Harrison is one of the fabulously fun books in the Clique series. This story is about a clique of girls known as “The Pretty Commitee”. Massie Block is the alpha of not only her group of friends but also the whole Octavian Country Day School in Westchester, New York. The rest of the clique and Massies followers include Alicia Rivera, known for her looks, Dylan Marvil, whose mom is the host on a popular talk sho, Kristen Gregory, soccer superstar of the school, and Claire Lyons who recently starred in the hit Movie “Dial L For Loser”. In this novel the girls are in search for a key that will unlock a secret room in the eigth grade wing at their school. The scavenger hunt is led by Skye Hamilton the eigth grade alpha. Which ever clique of the seventh grade finds the key under ONE of the many boys who Skye has kissed’s matress will not only own the secret room but also the title of eight grade alpha. Massie, the seventh grade alph does not want to share that title with Layne Abely whos clothes never match and hair always made into some weird updo so in the searching process she becomes a monster and wont let anyone get in her way.”with a single hoist, they flipped the matress off the bed and there it was”. This was the only quote I thought made th story golden without telling you who actually finds the key! The author wants you to realize that teamwork is key and could end a result that suuits everyone well without hurting feelings in the process. She wants you to know that large tasks can be tackled with help from your very best friends and some people you would not expect it from. I liked this book a lot and how it was a fun book that did not have a heavy meaning that made you think. I would reccomend this book to teenage girls from seventh to ninth grade as a summer or pleasure reading book.
