Another wonderful Sedaris read! This one is a collection of stories previously published in his other books, as well as some new ones, all relating to the holidays. David Sedaris is one of the few authors whose works make me laugh out loud.

I enjoyed "Dress your family in corduroy and denim" much more. The Macy's Christmas Elf story had it's great parts, and the Christmas letter one was a hilarious, though dark, idea. But overall, this didn't have me laughing out loud like "corduroy and denim" did... I think I was hoping for more real life stories than this one provided.

This is a great gift for your slightly bitter relative who doesn't hate the holidays but who maybe laughs heartily when a careless child crashes his forehead into a coffee table. Author David Sedaris excels in the art of self-deprecation and knows how to shed light on the dark corners of the family room. Before wrapping this gift, read "Front Row Center with Thaddeus Bristol". Mr. Bristol's critical review of a middle school Christmas production should only be read aloud to a friend who shares your same wicked sense of humor. You can also find Holidays on Ice as an audio book.
