The first book of the series sucks you in at the end, ensuring your undivided attention and the goal of getting thru the series to find out the conclusion. Ah, the irony! and pleasure!

I could not put this book down. Every chance i got, breaks at work, lunch, dinner, etc... I became non existant to my family while I devoured the pages and story. I love the characters and would have loved to find out about the youngest Stark? What became of the mother who had come back to life? I just want more. Will definitely be looking up other works from this author for my next book.

This series is not my typical genre. I prefer murder mysteries, but a friend of mine gave me the first book for a gift. Once I opened it I could not put it down. I then proceeded to devour all four books in a matter of weeks. I did nothing but read these books in my spare time. While these books have a lot going on at all times, in seven different kingdoms, they do not get you lost or confused. The transition from character to character is smooth and easy to follow. I just recently re-read all 4 books to "catch me up" since book 5 was released. Even though it was a second time through, I still could not put them down. I highly reccomend this series.

"Review A Day" by , "So when people started recommending the Song of Ice and Fire books, I nodded, made vague statements like, 'I should look for those,' and promptly didn't. I loved Martin's early short story Sandkings (it was years before I could blindly reach around a corner and flick on a light switch), but a fantasy series? No thanks. Then my sister bought A Game of Thrones and forced it upon me. I figured I would read enough of it so that I could tell her, 'This is why I don't like fantasy.' So I read. And read. And waited for it to become fantasy. Instead, it just kept being this amazingly complex story of politics and intrigue that just happens to be set in a medieval-type realm." "Review" by , "The major fantasy of the decade....compulsively readable."
"Review" by , "We have been invited to a grand feast and pageant: George R.R. Martin has unveiled for us an intensely realized, romantic but realistic world."
"Review" by , "Such a splendid tale and such a fantasticorical! I read my eyes out and couldn't stop 'til I finished and it was dawn."

"Synopsis" by , A NEW ORIGINAL SERIES, NOW ON HBO.

George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series has become, in many ways, the gold standard for modern epic fantasy. Martin—dubbed the “American Tolkien” by Time magazine—has created a world that is as rich and vital as any piece of historical fiction, set in an age of knights and chivalry and filled with a plethora of fascinating, multidimensional characters that you love, hate to love, or love to hate as they struggle for control of a divided kingdom. It is this very vitality that has led it to be adapted as the HBO miniseries “Game of Thrones.”

This boxed set includes the following novels:

A GAME OF THRONES

A CLASH OF KINGS

A STORM OF SWORDS

A FEAST FOR CROWS
