Publisher Comments:

"Mr. Willowby's Christmas tree
Came by special delivery.
Full and fresh and glistening green--
The biggest tree he'd ever seen.
That was the trouble. The tree was so tall, it couldn't stand up straight in his parlor. Mr. Willowby asked his butler to chop off the top of the tree. What happens to the treetop? Where will it be for Christmas? Snuggle up with this story and follow along through a forest full of friendly creatures who get to share in a bit of Christmas joy.

Review:

"The comical illustrations . . . are outstanding and add more spark to the zany holiday rhymes."--Kirkus Reviews

I received this book for Christmas when I was six years old. It's been read more than any other book I own. Each year, on the day I decorate the tree, out comes "Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree". It's a charming story of a man who lives in a grand house, but his Christmas tree is just a little too large, so the top is clipped. Then the top is taken home by another family, and once again, it's too large, so it gets clipped again. It could be adapted into a lesson as how we shouldn't throw out things others can use, or it can be read as a charming story. It's that time of year once again when I will be reading this cute rhyming book like I have for almost 30 years.
